General objectives

Our Master’s degree in Teacher Training for Compulsory Lower Secondary Education, non-compulsory Upper Secondary Education and Language Teaching aims at providing high-quality general, psycho-pedagogical teacher training, in compliance with relevant regulation (Ley Orgánica 2/2006 de Educación, Resolución de 17 de diciembre de 2007) by national education, and research authorities (Secretaría de Estado de Universidades e Investigación). This regulation stemmed from decisions taken at the Council of Ministers, whereby the requirements for teacher training courses and curricula are set.

Our objective is to qualify students to become professional teachers at secondary and upper secondary education, vocational training, and language teaching. Students will acquire the necessary tools to teach within their field of expertise, meeting current education needs and fostering comprehensive learning among students.

According to the general guidelines included in the MECES (Spanish framework for higher education qualifications), our Master’s graduates will attain the following objectives:

  • The student will be able to apply knowledge and skills to teaching solving the inherent problems of teaching and learning processes in different contexts. Hence, the student will adapt subject-related contents to the relevant teaching level applying the specific and general knowledge acquired.
  • Ability to adapt knowledge to the complexities of the education system and learning processes taking place in the school or classroom. To develop critical thinking on social and ethical issues within the teaching environment, being able to reflect on their own practice.
  • To make reasoned decisions being able to explain them plainly to the teaching community, specialized professionals, families, and society alike.
  • To develop lifelong learning skills and become up-to-date, independent, and responsible teachers.
