» What is the language learning methodology at Universidad Isabel I?
Students learn the language gradually. Different learning styles and approaches are implemented: the study of language in context and interactive language practice in real-life situations to develop reception (listening and reading), production (spoken and written), and interaction (spoken and written) skills. Besides, students manage their own schedule and study time thanks to the online nature of the courses. A tutor will be there from day one to assist and guide them throughout the learning process.
» Is it 100% online learning?
Yes, he course is 100% online and available 24/7.
Upon enrollment, you will be given the passwords to access our platform (virtual classroom) where you will find all the information on the course: the students’ guide (in PDF and printable formats), the syllabus, academic staff, general info on the course, the course timing, your tutor contact details, email account, media content, activities, and all learning resources.
» What technical requirements do I need for my training?
The following requirements are needed in all language courses:
- Internet connection.
- Microphone and speakers, or headphones.
» How qualified is our teaching staff?
Our teachers are highly qualified philologists, linguists, interpreters, etc. They are also online teaching professionals with at least three years of experience in adult language training. Our teaching staff is interdisciplinary, backed by experience, and experts in the use of ICTs in language teaching.

» What are the assessment criteria?
The assessment method at our School of Languages is based on continuous assessment.
A series of continuous assessment activities need to be completed to pass the course.
An expert adviser will guide you through the enrolment process. If still unsure, you can take our free level test to make sure you take full advantage of your learning experience.
» How long will it take to complete a learning level?
Our courses at the School of Languages are designed to meet your learning needs, so all language levels are available in two modes:
- Intensive mode courses (three months).
- General mode courses (six months).
Open enrolment dates: Every three months (approximately) in four yearly calls.
» Will I get a certificate? Is it a recognised certificate?
Successful students will obtain a university certificate awarded by Universidad Isabel I showing their language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR.
» I would like to apply to the next official examination. Will my learning be completed on time?
Students successfully completing the course will be qualified to take an examination by any accredited institution from the European Higher Education Area within the field of language training (Cambridge English Language Assessment, Goethe Institute, Camões Institute, Instituto Cervantes…).
» How does the enrolment process work?

- You will receive an email with the passwords to log on our Virtual Campus and complete your enrolment in a few steps. A straightforward online test will help you to find out what level is best for you.

» How can I practise my speaking?
Speaking practice is paramount in all units, through activities where students record their own audio files following given instructions. Interactive activities such as videoconferences with their tutor or classmates are also included. Besides, there are 3 one-to-one conversations between tutor and student (30 minutes long). Occasionally, different tutors will participate in the interactive activities so students can be exposed to different accents. Chat and video chat rooms will be available for students at all times.
